In this, our third year of the Versatility Award Program, I am happy to report that we have 6 new winners. The total now is 28.
The Awards are presented at the National Specialty. Including this year’s winners, the program has awarded
8 Award of Versatility

Each year there seems to be a noteworthy achievement in our program. This year we have our first ROMX whippet to receive an Award of Versatility, FC Finghins Waltzing Matilda, CD, LCMIII, NA, ROMX, owned by Sean and Elaine McMichael. We also have another Triathlon winner from the National in San Diego winning a Ch. Award of Versatility, DC Whippletree’s Gold Nugget, CD, FCh., owned by Rhonda Kumm. Our glamorous “Rudy” quickly finished his SKC Championship and SKC International Championship in 1998. He is major pointed in AKC competition and needs just a major to finish his AKC title. We are very proud of our “Jason” (Ch. Saxon Shore Amber Waves) grandson.
Our other star, “Angel” (Tandev Debmar Angel Eyes) finished her AKC Championship in 1998 (see Pedigree Section of this Annual).

“Macy”

(Queenie’s Mister Contender, ARM, ORC x Wheatland Prairie Queen, FCh)
Macy earned her CRX in her first year of racing, though only making it to a limited
number of race meets. Previously, Macy had competed in two WRA puppy meets
in which she placed 2nd in Ohio and 1st in Texas. Having class wins in the puppy and
12-18 month old ring, Macy plans to enjoy the show ring again in 1999.
Also as a two-year old, Macy looks forward to enjoying the oval track and flyball...
and with the extreme quickness and agility she has been demonstrating,
aspires to be a great lure courser.

1995/1 Year Old: Award of Racing Merit
1996/2 Year Old: Oval Racing Champion (ORC), Supreme Oval Racing Champion (SORC), Award of Racing Excellence (ARX), National Pointed NPR/WRA, Flyball Dog (FD), Winner of the JRRWA Delaware Versatility Competition, #3 Overall NOTRA, #1 Bitch NOTRA, Whippet Runner Dog Of The Year
1997/3 Years Old: Winner of the National Racing Specialty Racing Bitch Class, Field Champion (FCh), 2nd NOTRA Nationals, Supreme Oval Racing Champion II (SORCII), First 2X Winner of the JRRWA Delaware Versatility Competition, #3 Overall NOTRA, #1 Bitch NOTRA
A toe injury in August 1997 kept Becca from being able to compete the rest of the year, and reared it’s ugly head again the start of 1998. After coming back from toe surgery in September of ‘98, Becca slipped a disc in her back. Through the prognosis was that it was possible she could run again next year, I have officially retired her from the track and other athletic events. In a season and a half, Becca won 20 NOTRA meets from Texas, the Midwest, to Delaware. I’ll miss watching her happiness before and after each run, her beautiful form on the track... but I’ll always have the memories. And most importantly, I still have my baby girl. With a much quieter outlook for 1999, Becca & I are planning on being a team in the obedience ring.

“Chase” was imported from Mr. and Mrs. Johnstone McLeod’s Peperone Kennel, Scotland. Showing Chase with his color, and particularly his markings, has been a real challenge. However, he is close to completing his championship title.
